It Could Have Been You! (3)

“And he said to Zebah and Zalmunna, “What kind of men were they whom you killed at Tabor?” So they answered, “As you are, so were they; each one resembled the son of a king. Then he said, “They were my brothers, the sons of my mother. As the Lord lives, if you had let them live, I would not kill you. And he said to Jether his firstborn, “Rise, kill them!” But the youth would not draw his sword; for he was afraid, because he was still a youth. So Zebah and Zalmunna said, “Rise yourself, and kill us; for as a man is, so is his strength.” So Gideon arose and killed Zebah and Zalmunna, and took the crescent ornaments that were on their camels’ necks.

Judges 8:18-21. NKJV.”

When Gideon at the instance of divine commission confronted the enemy, he defeated them. He asked the captured Kings of Midian whom they killed at Tabor, and they told him in the opening scriptures they slaughtered his brothers, who looked exactly like him, meaning the people they killed mercilessly are also covenant children like Gideon! If it had been Gideon, they would not have spared him. Though there are things Gideon had lost within the seven oppressive years, he has reasons to be grateful to God.
As you know very well, there are things that bankrupt others, but you keep going despite those challenges;
~ you were tempted, probably you fell for it but you recovered, it didn’t wreck you as it wrecked others, that’s mercy.
~ you have accident but survived, others have and are left with life altering disabilities.
~ your business is thriving, this is a cause to give God thanks, though, you might be far from your dreams.
~ you have a roof over you, you’re probably eating once a day, it calls for thanksgiving.
~ you graduated but others have been frustrated out of the same school by evil and adulterous lecturers.
Ron Kenoly sang: I still have joy, I still have His joy, despite all I have been through, I still have His joy!
Reflection: a grateful hearts is a delight, God ask us to give Him praises for it draws more testimonies to us.
