“Obey those who rule over you, and be submissive, for they watch out for your souls, as those who must give account. Let them do so with joy and not with grief, for that would be unprofitable for you.

Saul didn’t despise the office of the servant of God and thus connect with God’s bigger and higher purpose. This age is witnessing the proliferation of false ministers of God doing unthinkable and unethical things. Despite this, your lifejacket at a time like this is conviction about who your Pastor should be!
You must never make the mistake of being a spiritual orphan, who has nobody watching over his/her spiritual life. The Bible ordained the office of spiritual parentage as critical and instructed believers to cooperate with them in the opening scriptures. A spiritual parent does for the members of a Church, what biological parents does for their children, and even much more.
Do not despise your leaders and Pastors, especially those labouring in righteousness, purity, holiness, and gravity! As your biological parents are not perfect, yet you celebrate and honor them. Your Pastor may not be perfect, but you can testify to his commitment and genuineness. The Bible asked Christians to submit and obey them in the opening scriptures. The bottom line is; you cannot profit from what you despise in any way, hence, it’s to your advantage to celebrate your Pastors.
In addition, Saul has a tender heart that he is privileged to be chosen as the first King of Israel, therefore, he didn’t hold it against those who felt they cannot submit to his leadership; “And Saul also went home to Gibeah; and valiant men went with him, whose hearts God had touched. But some rebels said, “How can this man save us?” So they despised him, and brought him no presents. But he held his peace. 1Samuel 10:26.” There is no height God cannot promote a humble person to.
Whatever height you have attained or will be promoted to, do not think you’re too important than the reason for your promotion.
