“Now there cried a certain woman… unto Elisha, saying, … and the creditor is come to take unto him my two sons to be bondmen. And Elisha said unto her, What shall I do for thee? tell me, what hast thou in the house? And she said, Thine handmaid hath not any thing in the house, save a pot of oil. Then he said, Go, borrow thee vessels abroad of all thy neighbours, even empty vessels; borrow not a few. And when thou art come in, thou shalt shut the door upon thee and upon thy sons, and shalt pour out into all those vessels, and thou shalt set aside that which is full. … Bring me yet a vessel. And he said unto her, There is not a vessel more. And the oil stayed.
2Kings 4:1-7.”
Being born again and fearing the Lord is not an automatic ticket to live a life worth leaving as legacy for ones children, everyone need the wisdom of God, favour, blessings and open heavens over ones endeavour, especially, as it pertains the daily sustenance.
The prophet in the opening scriptures left debts for the wife who also has nothing doing, but thank goodness, God divinely intervene, pay her debts and give her something doing from thenceforth.
Four things played an active role in this miraculous story, she went to the right place to seek help. Don’t seek help where heaven can’t document a worthy example for future generations.
She obeyed the directive of her Pastor. Disobedient and rebellious people will dwell in a dry land.
She believed in the miraculous. The Lord Jesus many times works miracles owing to people’s belief in His ability to heal.
And she had a good relationship with her neighbors. God will always use people around you, be of good behavior not minding your need, economic situation should not make you become bitter against others.
Without these, the miracle she witnessed will be a mirage!
Reflection: being spiritual is not enough, you must be gainfully employed in a laudable profession.
PRAYERS
° Heavens of unusual miracles, open over my life and endeavour in Jesus name.
° My Father, supernaturally pay my debts in Jesus name.
° My Father, let the reproach of my life be rolled away in Jesus name.
° My Father, multiply the little I have in Jesus name.
° heavens of miracles, open over my life in Jesus name.
° I receive wisdom of God for Open Heavens in Jesus name.
° O Lord, remember my labour of years past in Jesus name.
