God’s Bigger And Higher Purpose. 2

“There three men going up to God at Bethel will meet you, one carrying three young goats, another carrying three loaves of bread, and another carrying a skin of wine. And they will greet you and give you two loaves of bread, which you shall receive from their hands. … And it will happen,… that you will meet a group of prophets coming down from the high place with a stringed instrument, a tambourine, a flute, and a harp before them; and they will be prophesying. Then the Spirit of the LORD will come upon you, and you will prophesy with them and be turned into another man. So it was, when he had turned his back to go from Samuel, that God gave him another heart; and all those signs came to pass that day.

1Samuel 10:3-6, 9. NKJV.”

King Saul of Israel make quantifiable progress when he met Samuel, who told him things that will happen to him; (a) he will have encounters with prophets, (b) he will be given gifts he didn’t ask for, (c) he will prophesy and (d) move up in God’s plan for his life as the first King of Israel. These prophecies doesn’t just come to pass as predicted, few things prepared Saul to move into quantifiable progress in God’s greater plan for his life.
What helped Saul to connect with God’s greater purpose for his life?
Saul heartily served his father without pretence. He that cannot serve others well cannot climb to higher heights with God. The prerequisite to becoming a great leader is having being a great servant! When his father sent him to look for lost donkeys, he didn’t object, but as a dutiful son, who was benefiting from the wealth of the father, he was concerned about the family business! Whether people acknowledged your service or not, there is a bigger purpose than what you can imagine.
The Lord Jesus gives the same formula that the way you served qualified you for greater things from God; “He who is faithful in what is least is faithful also in much; and he who is unjust in what is least is unjust also in much. Luke 16:10.”
Reflection: The _*prerequisite to becoming a great leader is having being a great servant.
